ACM-100 high-end control and protection platform

(1)Overall Features

ACM-100 system developed by XD Group is state of the art, general control and protection platform for industrial applications. It is designed with multi-master architecture, supports parallel operation of maximum 16 master processor modules within one sub-rack.

The task scheduler of the master modules supports the burst execution for multi-priority cyclic tasks and interrupts. The minimum cycle time of the cyclic tasks is 50μs, which makes time-critical task and emergent events are always responded in time. For data exchanges and sharing between master modules and among tasks, the system provides efficient data consistency algorithm to guarantee the real-time, correctness and security of the data.

AGraphical engineering tools TIGAS that meet IEC61131 standard is provided to facilitate the engineering of hardware and software and will greatly reduce application threshold of operation and maintenance personnel, and reduce the overall operation cost of the customer as well.Features of ACM-100 platform are well met requirements of the C&P system of power system and other industrial applications, can be widely applied to areas of HVDC transmission, FACTS equipment, rail transit, intelligent manufacturing, process control and motion control and so on.


(2)Hardware Description

1)System Sub-rack

The ACM-100 platform uses standard 19-inch Euro Card 6U chassis and equipped with 4U full size bus backplane. Standard DIN 41612 connectors and high-speed ZD connectors are used for reliable connection of backplane with the modules inserted in the rack. Maximum 16 master modules can be inserted in the rack and operated in parallel.

The SR01A chassis is configured with reliable grounding bolt and by installing anti-interference shrapnel and conductive cloth and other measures, the electromagnetic shielding performance is greatly improved. SR01A chassis is designed with no fans and installation of duplicate redundancy of power module, which effectively avoid instability and the system failure caused by faults of the fans and the power modules.

2) Buses of the System

The system buses implemented in the backplane of ACM-100 sub-rack is a multi-bus system, of which global and local buses are included. The global bus consists of 2.5Gbps high-speed serial bus and CAN bus, used to realize high-speed sharing of C&P system data and binary files transmission between multi-masters respectively. The local bus is implemented based on standards of MLVDS and PCI-e, and are arranged in segments adjacent to each master boards for extension of peripherals of the master modules, such as analog and binary IOs, electrical and optical communication ports and so on. With these enhanced design of the system bus, efficiency of data exchange and overall performance of ACM-100 system can be guaranteed.

3)Major Hardware Modules

● Master Processor Modules: ACM-100 system is equipped with a variety of master processor modules, used to realize the core functions of the C&P system such as system management, control and protection functionalities, data acquisition and process, as well as high-speed optical communications etc. respectively. They are designed around high performance single or multi-core CPU, that embedded with double precision floating point unit which providing powerful computing capacity. Large-scaled onboard FPGA is installed to realize the high-speed hardware functions such as optical communication, PWM modulation and so on. Also the mSATA disk is equipped onboard of the master module for establishing of the built-in transient fault recording (TFR) function of the C&P equipment while needed. The sampling rate of the TFR can be 50 kHz or higher according to configurations.



Binary I/O Modules: both electrical and optical binary I/O modules are provided by ACM-100 system for transfer binary signals e.g. the status, C&P commands etc... All electrical binary ports of the I/O modules are designed based on differential twisted pairs with isolation level of 2500Vrms to avoid interference. The modules are available in both local and global versions. The local version serves as an I/O extension to a master module, its input and output are handled by that master module, and the global version are connected to the system bus, their input and output singles can be shared by all the masters in the system.

Digital Communication Module: With 7 ST optical input ports and 7 ST optical output ports on its front panel, the module is used for transfer of IEC60044-8 FT3 based data frames, such as receiving analog signals sent by electronic transformers or redistributing of system data between C&P equipment. The module acts as a peripheral extension of a master module, transferred data are controlled by the master module via its PCIE port.

Merging Module: the module is equipped with 9 ST optical connectors, 7 as inputs and 2 as outputs, for IEC60044-8 communication and 3 SFP connectors used as AURORA input/output pairs, the module is used to merge system data from different locations, such as intelligent IO units, electronic transformers and cascade merging unit and so on. The received information of the module are transferred to the master modules through the backplane of the system. By configuration, the receiving frame of any one channel of the totally 10 input channels can be taken as the sync frame to that of the rest 9 channels. The two ST output ports are for dedicated use of sending sync pulses to the data sources in other locations.

4)nterface and Communication Resources

The ACM-100 platform are designed based on systematic concept, provides a wealth of standard interfaces and communication protocols, create consistent information and communication structures at the system level, thus the overall structure of C&P system can be flexibly configured according to requirements of project and efficient communication can also be achieved. The following interfaces and communication resources are provided by the system.

10/100/1000M Adaptive Ethernet;

IEC 60044-8 FT3 optical ports;
