The "electromagnetic sled" facility, the world's first ground ultra-high speed test facility for electromagnetic propulsion, has been successfully put into operation in Jinan, China. It can propel objects of a ton class or above at a maximum speed of 1,030 kilometers per hour, setting the world's highest speed record for mass ultra-high speed electromagnetic propulsion technology。

The research and development of high-speed advanced equipment such as high-speed ground traffic and aviation aircraft must solve a series of scientific and technological problems such as aerodynamics, high-strength advanced materials, high-speed measurement and control under complex dynamic processes. The electromagnetic skid constructed by electromagnetic propulsion technology has the outstanding advantages of large thrust, fast response and accurate control, which can provide an important test means for solving the above problems.

The world's first electromagnetic sled facility, located in Jinan, Shandong province, is a major project of strategic cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shandong province and Jinan City. During the design and construction of electromagnetic sled facilities, the scientific research team of the Institute of Electrical Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences broke through a series of key core technologies, and a number of technical indicators reached the world's leading level. At present, electromagnetic sled facilities can provide testing and testing services to relevant domestic enterprises and research institutions, and it is of great significance to support the continuous rapid development of mass and high-speed advanced equipment and high-speed scientific and technological research in our country.
